Our Campus

The campus, the forest, the lake, the natural beauty of this place envelops the students in an experiential environment that is unlike any school I know of.

The Shawnigan Lake campus…

has been both a school and a home to students for nearly a century. In 1927, the Strathcona Lodge School opened its doors to roughly 25 female students, eventually growing and improving its facilities to accommodate up to 180 boarding students. In 1977, after a long history of preparing women for leadership roles in their community, the Strathcona Lodge School closed.

Soon after, Maxwell International Baha’i School purchased the campus and began educating youth from around the world. The co-ed school of Maxwell Baha’i operated for 20 years before closing its doors in 2008.

In 2009, Dwight International School opened, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to international and domestic students. Partnered with The Dwight School in New York, Dwight followed a mandate to offer unique and progressive educational opportunities to students both locally and from around the world. In 2012, Dwight International School changed it’s name to Dwight School Canada, and continued operations under that name until 2016.

With a desire to bring high-quality education to countries around the world, Dwight School Canada opted to partner with schools in Cambridge, UK and Silicon Valley, USA, and through these partnerships the Brookes Education Group was born.

In September 2016, Dwight School Canada officially changed its name to Brookes Shawnigan Lake.
